Back in the sixties and early seventies the kalimba began to appear in the music of such American artists as Taj Mahal and the R & B band, Earth, Wind & Fire. In this video you can watch Maurice White playing the kalimba prelude to "Evil," a song written by Phillip Bailey and Maurice White in 1973. We've figured out a tuning similar to the one Maurice White uses in this video, have written out his prelude to "Evil" in tablature and offer this to you as a free download.

With a tally of over 170,000 views to date,"First Look Inside" qualifies as my first YouTube hit single. This song has introduced many people to the kalimba and Kalimba Magic. Now you can download the tablature and learn this song on the Hugh Tracey Alto Kalimba!

Mark Holdaway and music therapist Kathryn Rambo present this exciting new book with 29 arrangements of favorite songs for the pentatonic kalimba. Kathryn writes: "This book grew out of a request by a very creative student of mine, Adam, who lives with autism. My student asked to learn some songs he was familiar with, ones he could play for his family." Thank you so much Adam! Without you, we wouldn't have this book.
