Thursday, August 5, 2010 The Sansula in Heavenly A tuning. At this point, the exact order of events may be lost to history, but I think this is how it may have happened: In 2006 I bought a Sansula and was so charmed I started selling them. I quickly realized that the expressive range of the Sansula could be significantly broadened if it were retuned into different tunings. In 2007 I invented the Beautiful E tuning, and in October 2007, I posted last week's video on how to retune your Sansula into the Beautiful E. Prior to February 2009, Rick Tarquinio (aka ReturnToSound on YouTube) invented his Heavenly A in response to the Beautiful E. I decided I liked this tuning so well, I included it in my book Playing the Sansula. At this point, Rick has made over a dozen different Sansula tunings. There are many people out there discovering new tunings. ; |
