Hugh Tracey Celeste Alto

$100.00

This kalimba’s notes are just like the 15-note ALTO Kalimba, but the tines are mounted on a flat kiaat wood sounding board instead of the resonating box. Great for small hands.

Description

While the regular Alto kalimba is not recommended for small hands, this board-mounted Alto kalimba is! Highly capable.

This instrument is played just like the 15-note alto Kalimba, but it lacks the resonant box. Consequently, it sounds even more like an antique music box than does the alto kalimba. The small sound board is well-suited for small hands or children. The small board also permits using the right index finger up-stroke method typically used in mbira playing. A nice trick to increase the volume is to hold it against a window or a table as a sounding board.
