The years was 2002, before I started Kalimba Magic. I performed a 12 minute medley of 12 different Christmas Carols, on my Hugh Tracey Alto Kalimba, to an audience of about 200 people at the TKMA Holday Party in Tucson Arizona. All I will say is that every one of the audience members will have remembered the magic of that music for the rest of their lives, barring severe memory loss.
That extended moment is where Kalimba Magic really started, though the Kalimba Magic BUSINESS would not come to life until 2005.
Over the years, I have notated my full advanced arrangements for a wide variety of kalimbas – 15-Note Alto, 17-Note Treble in G, 17-Note Kalimba in C, Moon-10 Kalimba, 10-Note Kalimba, and 8-Note Kalimba. I also made entry level “Easy Christmas” books for a number of these kalimbas.
But today, I am just sharing links to the 17-Note Kalimba in C Christmas resources. The reason why is obvious – since the Chinese started making kalimbas circa 2016, the 17-Note Kalimba in C has become the most popular kalimba type in the world.
How do you know if your kalimba is a 17-Note Kalimba in C? Well, it will have 17 notes, it will be in the key of C, with a low note of middle C. And the tuning will be as below. And to get the most out of these tablature-based books, you will want to mark six of the tines as shown below.
