This eBook has Songs From the Soul of America… arranged for your kalimba
For all the good and bad things you can say about my country America right now, one thing that most people can agree on is that America is a great leader in musical innovation. This has been going on for centuries, and a lot of it has to do with the huge ethnic melting pot that the land of the free has always been.
Know that this great country’s great music has always brought people together, across this land and across the world. I invite you to jump into the pot yourself, and learn some of these classics on your 17-Note Kalimba in C.
I published a very similar book of Kalimba Americana for the Hugh Tracey Alto kalimba a few months ago. This is the same book, but translated to the 17-Note Kalimba in C.
The ebook is a simple 54 page PDF file with tablature for 29 songs (four are repeats with basic and advanced versions). The PDF file has live links to the MP3 sound recordings of each song. Songs are rated between Level 0 and Level 4. Of the 29 songs, more than half are Level 2 or easier, making this a good option for beginning kalimba players. The songs in the Table of Contents are ordered from easiest to most difficult:
Here is the tablature for page one of “Home on the Range.” This song is typical of Level 3 songs in that it has melody and, in places, one or two harmony notes. If you had the actual PDF, you could click on the sound icon (the black note with green sound waves) in the upper left corner, and your web browser would be driven to play the MP3 sound file – a recording that shows you exactly how this tablature should sound.
